I thought I had the story and twists figured out, and I was disappointed when my theories were proven right. That is, until the last and final twist which left me astounded!

The story begins by the discovery of a silver bracelet, on a secluded cliff, belonging to a girl, Emma, who disappeared 10 years ago, without a trace. The book has multiple POVs of characters who are essential to the story, but we are never lost as to who is who.

The timeline in the book follows all the characters in the present, including Haley, Emma's younger sister, who's living with OCD and unable to accept that her sister was of a troubled mind and committed suicide as is the belief of the whole town, Priya who was Emma's art teacher, and the second timeline we have is of 10 years ago following Emma through her college years leading to the final that night everything went wrong.

What I didn't particularly like about the book was that the past of the characters wasn't explained enough, which made it a little difficult to understand the cause of their behaviour.

What I liked, was the writing and the story which kept me on my toes, and the anticipation of what really happened to Emma kept me turning the pages fast!

Fantastic books. I didn't have high expectations as it was an Amazon Prime First reads pick. I haven't had much luck with my first read picks before. But I loved this book. I was in a reading slump and for 3 weeks couldn't stay focused on any book whatsoever. This book brought me out of it. Now here's to hoping the slump is officially over.
dark mysterious tense fast-paced

The most dysfunctional and unlikeable characters ever! I finally had to skip to the end of the book just to see who “did it,” even tho it was evident.
dark mysterious tense medium-paced
Plot or Character Driven: A mix
Strong character development: Yes
Loveable characters: Complicated
Diverse cast of characters: No
Flaws of characters a main focus: Complicated

A pretty medium thriller with a lot of flat characters. I couldn’t really get into the story and didn’t really find myself rallying behind any of the characters. I did like how all of them had their own secrets. Some of the twists felt a little unsurprising and like the tropes were trying too hard. It was also a fast read.

Just okay

The storyline was promising but never quite reached its potential. I expected a great build up and a grand finale but got neither. The ending seemed random and didn’t necessarily fit with the rest of the story.

In this psychological suspense, Haley's sister Emma had disappeared ten years ago, and no one knows what happened to her until a new piece of evidence is found that renews interest in the case.  Haley and her family are desperate to know what happened to Emma.  Secrets run deep among the people of Emma's past and connections start to surface when a woman is attacked at an open house in the present.

This was supposed to be a bedtime, read for a few minutes until my eyelids slapped shut, book.  It was NOT that.  Most nights I had to force myself to turn my Kindle off and go to bed even though I wanted to keep reading to see what happened.  It was also intriguing enough where I found myself wanting to read it at other times of the day as well.  It's a great whodunnit that makes you constantly think of different scenarios for who could have done it and why and just when you think you have it figured out, the author throws a new piece of information at you that makes you question everything you thought before.  I also really enjoyed the dual timelines and piecing together how the past and present connected.

None of the characters were particularly lovable and most had some pretty messed up morals, but I did find myself rooting for Haley and wanted her to get closure on what happened to her sister.

Did I cry?  No.

rounded down 3.5 star. i didn’t connect as much as i hoped with the characters, and actually felt so annoyed by them. it was a nice twist, but i could predict it pretty easily. in the bigger picture, it was an enjoyable read and a good mystery that had me guessing.

Total page turner

I read this book in less than 3 days. It kept me guessing until the end and I absolutely love how it was written from different characters’ perspectives.
