This books was not as good as the author’s previous book We Were Mothers. I was expecting a story of that magnitude, but instead I was left with several undeveloped characters and an anticlimactic finish.

Ten years ago, Emma went missing. It was assumed she took her own life, but recently some new evidence has shown up that makes the police, and Emma’s sister Haley think otherwise. When two couples show up to an open house to find the realtor attacked, everything slowly starts to unravel.

I love when a book makes me change my mind several times throughout on who the killer was. While I was eventually right, its always nice when I second guess myself! It was told from the perspective of Haley in present day, and Emma ten years ago. While this one was a bit of the expected at times, I found it was the exact read I needed right now.

I feel bad, I think the reason that I’m giving it 4 stars is because the voice for Emma grated at my ears- it was awful. The story was very entertaining though, and I listened in 2 days while taking care of my infant.

I joined a buddy read on this book on bookstagram after receiving as a giveaway win and holy cow was it a page turner!

Emma disappeared at a college party ten years ago and no one knows what happened to her. This book goes through the lives of Emma’s family and closest friends to end in learning the truth of what actually happened to her all those years ago.

I absolutely loved this book! The ending was entirely surprising, I was utterly shocked! I changed who I thought did the crime sooo many times throughout the journey and was still surprised by the actual person who was to blame.

This books gets 5 star I thought it was amazing!

2.5 stars. The story was all over the place, lots of back and forth made it hard to follow. It didn’t hold my interest. Too many storylines.

Enjoyable read

I enjoyed reading the ups and downs of this story. It was a little surprising to read from Emma’s perspective scattered throughout the book, which helped support the storyline without giving much away too early. The ending was somewhat unpredictable and helped to round things out. However, I did find myself wanting more details instead of being left with assumptions.
