One plane ride to Tulsa was all it took for me to read Open Book by Katie Sise.

When Emma goes missing in a small college town, no one forgets. Especially her family, and the friends that were the last to see her.

Even ten years later, Haley is drawn to the town where her sister last was. She isn’t the only one. Emma’s old college friends and even her art teacher have all stayed in the same place wondering what happened to her. When new evidence surfaces, it is the push that Haley needs to find out what happened to her sister and hopefully find closure for her and her family.

Open House was the first book I have read by Katie Sise and I enjoyed the plot and all the twists. There were a few I predicted, but also a few I didn’t. I am always a fan of duel story lines, so I loved the present mixed with the past sorry of Emma and what was going on prior to her disappearance.

Open House was the January pick from #TheSixSpotlight. During the discussion with the Katie it was so fun to hear about her thoughts on the characters and how the story came to be.

Thank you ladies and @amazonpublishing for my copy and the discussion after reading.

I thought I had the story and twists figured out, and I was disappointed when my theories were proven right. That is, until the last and final twist which left me astounded!

The story begins by the discovery of a silver bracelet, on a secluded cliff, belonging to a girl, Emma, who disappeared 10 years ago, without a trace. The book has multiple POVs of characters who are essential to the story, but we are never lost as to who is who.

The timeline in the book follows all the characters in the present, including Haley, Emma's younger sister, who's living with OCD and unable to accept that her sister was of a troubled mind and committed suicide as is the belief of the whole town, Priya who was Emma's art teacher, and the second timeline we have is of 10 years ago following Emma through her college years leading to the final that night everything went wrong.

What I didn't particularly like about the book was that the past of the characters wasn't explained enough, which made it a little difficult to understand the cause of their behaviour.

What I liked, was the writing and the story which kept me on my toes, and the anticipation of what really happened to Emma kept me turning the pages fast!

I wish goodreads had half stars. This was 3.5 stars for me. It was an easy read and even though I figured out what happened (almost) there was a part I didn’t see coming that really surprised me. I wouldn’t call this a thriller but I definitely enjoyed it.

Fast-paced book that was a thrilling novel to listen to. Kept me on my toes and interested. Highly recommend!

Great book!

Excellent page turner. Tons of twists and turns, will keep you guessing until the very end. I loved the segments told from Emma’s point of view. Very likeable and relatable character.

This is a fun mystery that is quick and easy to digest. The drama is intense and overall I enjoyed it, but the characters are weak and the ending is unsatisfying. For a story focused around the disappearance of Emma, we really don’t know who Emma was or why we should care about her at all. The way that we go back in time to hear from Emma’s point of view is a cheap trick... the detectives and Emma’s family are all so stupid that there’s no way they could have actually figured out the mystery. It’s a juicy story but it will not inspire you or change your life.

This book surprised me. I got it one month as a amazon free read. It was really good with twists and turns. Very happy I decided to read it!

I read the book in one setting so it was obviously good just not a five star.

I thoroughly enjoyed this book!! Fast paced, I sped right through it. I loved how the author kept you guessing through the entire novel... wondering which of the characters was the actual killer. So good!!
