3.75ish/5.
I wouldn't call Skyward amazing (by Sanderson's standards obviously, otherwise it's brilliant), but it sure as hell was a whole lot of fun. Had been putting it off because, well, The Reckoners (LOL), but getting a random recommendation from a friend whose opinion on Literature I blindly trust, and having nothing else to read really (recommend me books, people!), I just went ahead.
And now I am low key excited for Starsight which comes out in just a few months! I mean, a man gotta make do till the Lord eventually graces us with The Rhythm of War. :3

Very VERY excited for this sequel. The ending almost pushed the rating to a 5 star book; I'm going to put it at a 4.5 I think. For the majority of the book it was pleasant to read and had a really engaging story. Some of the humour, especially stuff with the AI ship fell a bit flat for me? I'm not even able to give a good reason why this was since that type of sarcastic humour between companions is usually exactly what I like. it got better near the end.
There were twists and turns that weren't overly unexpected, but still exciting to read about (except when she first found the talking ship, because that I wasn't expecting). Every single battle someone in the main group died. I took this as predictable for a long while, but I suppose with battles like these it's also realistic.
This is the first brandon Sanderson book I've ever read and it wasn't what I was expecting. I guess it's geared towards a slightly younger audience than his usual high fantasy? Again, this is just me guessing. I was expecting an older tone and wasn't exactly disappointed as surprised.
I will get the next book as soon as it's written and can't wait to read more of Sanderson's stuff.

Very good. Tad bit heavy on the technical jargon and such for my liking but I thoroughly enjoyed this. Great female lead, the supporting characters are a tiny bit too to the side. If that makes sense. One star deducted for the fact that I would’ve liked less tech things and more friends things.
