Mmmm it was okay, dark falls series is much better
First “twist” was obvious from the beginning, second one was more unexpected but still kind of lacklustre
But I don’t regret reading it

This had a bit of a YA feel, but there is explicit spice on page.

“A Deal with the Shadow King,” by Anya J. Cosgrove

Penelope’s father sold her to the shadow king, now she must live in Faerie with King Damian and use her forbidden magic. She is determined to learn to protect herself physically and magically from all that would harm her.

I really liked this book. I liked the fact she has to spend half the year in Faerie, I liked the reverse harem aspect, I loved the shadow court, and I loved the Beauty and the Beast/ Persephone and Hades retelling vibe. The characters were super interesting and the world that was built was unique and had so many moving parts to it. The main characters’ interactions were slow burn and filled with tension and I couldn’t get enough. The book was fast paced and had enough action to keep it interesting. I absolutely can’t wait for book 2. 4 out of 5 stars.

I’ve always been a fan of fairy tale re-telling, especially those that take the premise and make it into their own. I also enjoy those with HEA couples that are interconnected through out the book universe.

This author surpassed my expectations and had me questioning myself and what I was reading until the end, which then they added another delicious twist.

While it starts out like a lot of the Fae tropes of Princess with forbidden magic makes a trade with the big, bad fae, in return for protecting their kingdom, this one goes deeper.

Secrets are hidden in the shadows, multiple worlds are present, and maybe, those closest to you are the ones you need to be afraid of.

Wow!! This book was so enchanting! The spicy scenes were *chef’s kiss* 🌶️🥵 Nell grows so much as a FMC and it was amazing to see how co did at she becomes in who she is. Now present the morally gray MMC the Shadow King and One (two and three 😉) whose motives are questionable and keep you guessing on what’s going on throughout the book. Highly recommend if you love Magic, fantasy, and some shadow daddy vibes ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
