This was such a NICE book. It was exactly what I was looking for in bedtime reading. It was shorter that I would have liked it to be, funny, and the characters were excellent. Not a lot happens in the book as it is mostly just a story of a family - and one member of that family essentially. But the family charmed me and Mitford's writing makes the reader feel so snug with the family that she represents (which is supposed to be loosely based on her own family).

The antiquated writing is not my jam and made the book hard to read for me. But the story was cute and clever and punctuated by witty humor, so will adjust up to 3 stars on account of that. I imagine if you like Jane Austen, you’d probably like this a lot too. And 200 pages is not a huge investment.
