I listened to the audiobook and the narrator did a great job.

I was really engaged by the first books of this series. I liked the action, the complexity of the world and of the plots. I think I also implicitly bought into the heroism of the two MCs. However, as the series moved along, I started getting annoyed by how much trouble the MCs brought on themselves and those they claim to care about by rudely (or with wink-wink laughs) disregarding the counsel given to them by people they should listen to. For example, why even have Sage as a primary advisor unless you're willing to listen to her. Is it just to add angst? Angst for angst's sake is just infuriating, not engaging. I also don't like how sarcastic and snarky Patrick gets in situations that most need him to be reasonable. Similarly, Jono gets very brawns-without-brains at the stupidest times. The author doesn't seem to be able to write a major battle without first having supporting characters warn one of the MCs not to do something that would have prevented it. I don't understand why that doesn't bother more people. So many people who the heroes claim to care about get hurt in this book because the MCs aren't really good leaders.

If you read or re-read this book, please keep an eye out for what I'm talking about here. If you disagree with me and if you think you know what I'm missing, please shoot me a message or leave a comment. Thanks!

DNF. I’m going to put this on a DNF after chapter 9. I’m done with the story and it’s back and forth on the plot with things that are either easy plot ploys to drag the story along or things that don’t make sense to the story as a whole.

It's like there is a bom in a building and everyone is saying, well someone will solve it... someday...

Don’t get me wrong, I like Patrick and Jono as characters, but the story has just become too complex and contradictory at points for me to like it.

Will probably finish it after the last book is released just to read how it ended.

"I'll always be happy with you."

I love!!! when things happen!!!

An Echo in the Sorrow is now my favorite book in the series, thank you! So many things I wanted to see from the moment I started the series happened in this book. There was one very big plot conflict that stretched across all 6 books that got solved here and it was everything! I needed and more. I am so beyond happy with how Turner developed everything sldfjsldfjlsf h e l p

I loved every single bit of this book from start to finish. I read it in one sitting, as always, and had no regrets. There was so much tension and action and the stakes were so!! high!!! that it was impossible to put the book down. Pretty much all of the big players were present and had something to do that either made me cheer or frustrated me to no end. I loved it!

You all know I didn't have the best time with On the Wings of War because it felt like a big filler that didn't add anything that important to the series? Which in hindsight was still mostly true, but it did serve as a stepping stone for some huge reveals that happened here. When I thought the series was aimless, An Echo in the Sorrow showed me Turner knew exactly where she wanted to go and how she wanted things to happen.

It was very obvious that Turner worked to resolve some of the big conflicts in the series so she could turn the characters to the final showdown that's supposed to happen in the next book. I am so! tense! regarding that because An Echo in the Sorrow was already such an Experience for me.

And the ending was super sweet, please. Patrick and Jono have overcome so much and they're grown together as people and in their relationship and the final scene with them was such a sweet and lovely moment between the characters that I had to stop and lie down for a bit.

Everything about this book worked for me.

I can’t begin to explain how nerve wrecking this book was to read. I’m so emotionally invested for Patrick and Jono that I stayed on the edge of my seat for the entire journey. I cried so many times during this book as well, I’m a sensitive reader and feel those emotions deeply. Honestly, I’m beyond emotionally invested in Patrick, Jono, Wade, and the rest of the pack.

Many of Patrick’s secrets come to the light of day. With each new or old God that makes their appearance, it’s always a guessing game to know what side they fall on. At the same time, Jono finally has the match to lead all of New York City’s God Pack. All with the same twists and turns that we know and love from Hailey.

Wade is hands down my favorite character. He’s perfectly witty and lovable. His love of food and stealing is priceless. Wade also came into his own more and more in this book, he started to bloom into a confident young man.

Hailey Turner is a fantastic writer that paints a perfect picture throughout her entire book. From cover to cover, you will enjoy this book.

I need more stars and time to process the total head rush that makes up this book's story!

Every time I read a new entry in this series from Hailey Turner, I have to take a breath to absorb what she's just blown my mind away with.

Book Six is no exception, in fact, it's probably the most complex so far in all the Soulbound books as there are a multitude of big WTF moments that I won't be spoiling at any point in this review

2nd re-listen. Rating stays the same.

It's August, a year after the events in  [image] and everything is gearing up towards the end. Gods from all Pantheons are showing up and taking sides and although everything Pack is getting settled for Jono and Patrick, every thing that has to do with Patrick and his twin is going from bad to worse to worst.

Hailey puts us quite through the emotional wringer in this book and I can't even imagine how the last will be.

3 weeks till the release of  [image] and since I'm one of the lucky ones that will be getting an ARC next week it'll be darn hard to contain myself till then!

------------------

And here we are reaching the end of this incredible series soon. In this book Hailey ties all the secondary loose ends she has, so she can pour her everything into the last book, and it is glorious. Jono is an unflappable rock beside Patrick when secrets are revealed and Patrick proves that he will always come back to Jono.

Gary's narration is incredible once more, not only with a multitude of voices and nuances but truly performing the feelings and actions of the characters, so much so that Wade's sorrow and pain had me crying (if you've read the book before listening to it, you know what I'm talking about).

DO NOT MISS OUT!!!
