This was such a fun read for me and felt like a bit of a love letter to general nerdiness and fandom culture and a lot like a love letter to DND. I’ve always been intrigued by the idea of DND and this book made the game feel approachable and I loved that we got both the story of our characters, while we also got to see the campaign play out on the page. Noah and Sadie also having the additional avenue of being able to flirt and explore their feelings for each other through their characters was delightful to read. I also appreciated how the author was able to really tell the story of Sadie working through her burn out and figuring out if pivoting from what she thought she wanted for her life was the right decision. The indecision and the worry felt authentic and Sadie’s journey was all the better for it.

4.5⭐️ Absolutely enjoyed all of this. Sadie is such a real example of what anxiety can look like. Loved how she worked through it. Noah was the perfect, supportive golden retriever type. The world building of the actual DnD game was so fun also. Great read for DnD lovers and those like me who are married to one.
Sadie has lost her marketing job and needs to get away. Thankfully, her best friend has a place for her. He also has a new dungeons and dragons campaign about to start. Sadie meets the other players and one is Noah. A very handsome bartender who tends to travel more than put down roots.
As they play DnD and get to know one another, they both open up more and more. Noah opens up about past hurt; and Sadie finally admits what happened at her job. Is there a future for them together. Will Noah decide to stay a little while or move on. Will Sadie take the new marketing job in New York.
Thank you @netgalley, Random House, and the author for the advance reader copy.

This was such a fun read!!! Lenora Woods is clearly a fan of D&D and expertly captures the incredible journey a campaign can be for plays. Liam is a dream DM and I'm jealous of the fictional set up our protagonist Sadie gets to indulge in.
Woods also writes and incredible blend of fantasy and contemporary that could maybe be classed as 'contemporary romantasy' it's such an interesting take on the use of split POV between Sadie and her character Kaylie's individual adventures over a summer in Texas. Definitely a good summer read if you’re looking for a light-hearted, nerdy, cosy romance.

I zoomed through this.
Creative format that straddles the rom-com and cozy fantasy genres. Feels different than romantasy, which I haven't been able enjoy. Dual storylines - a burnt out NYC woman in her late twenties spends the summer in Texas playing D&D + the campaign itself from the perspective of our main character's D&D persona.
I can't believe this is her debut novel. Highly recommend this to people who like rom-coms, cozy fantasy, or slightly nerdy things in general.

I’m such a sucker for a DnD romance, so this was an absolute no brainer. It’s well written, and I was invested in the story pretty much the entire - I could not put it down.

This was a very cute story that I think my friends that love D&D will appreciate so much!
This was such a different setup of most romance books I read. I love that it got very creative with the two storylines: the real life one and the D&D adventure the group took on. However, there were moments I feel that were ignored in the real world that could have had more depth and time to build upon. More doing, less saying if you will.
I did love the bit of romance we saw between Sadie and Noah but I wanted MORE. More in the sense of seeing them build on their relationship and truly see them make Heller their home. There were some spicy moments and I give it 2 🌶️ out of 5.
Overall, this was a very entertaining read and I hope there’s a second book to continue on the adventure. Thank you so much NetGalley, Ballantine and Lenora Woods for the ARC in exchange of an honest review.

I loved this. I related to our FMC’s feelings of career burnout and the changes she went through to find happiness. The D&D aspect of this was perfect. The way we as a reader got to dive deep into the campaign was so fun, I was so invested in their storyline and what their characters were going through. The romance was fun and flirty too. I loved that their D&D characters were flirtatious and that was how they first started exploring things with each other. This was great. Highly recommend for my D&D and fantasy girlies who also enjoy some romance.
