I'm sorry to say I found Rebecca Bloomwood (the protagonist) to be downright insufferable. Truly annoying to read right up through the first two thirds of the book or so.
She also isn't much of a sympathetic character because she is driven by looks and status. She's born to privilege and gets into trouble only because she can't stop buying luxury brands at the very start of her white collar career.
I am also not really convinced she learns her lesson by the end of the book. She spends maybe a week trying to cut back spending - and fails at it - and then magically falls into two dream jobs she barely had to try to get.
I know this book is very popular, but it just wasn't for me.
