Yet another Chick-lit i read... again!! because of a movie!! Both the movie and Book are funny to the core... though you need to know your fashion/brands if you are to understand some of it!! ... (God! this is so embarrasing!! *cover my eyes*)

Nothing beats the Shopaholic series for light easy reads. As ditsy as Becky Bloomwood is you can't not like her.

I couldn't finish it-the main character made me too nervous with her irresponsible behavior.

I liked this book a lot, because I am a shopoholic myself. I could relate to all her temptings, when something was on sale in a shop. 75% of the book was too funny and I was having fits of laughter every few mins. Very light and fun read. Just like Rebecca does, I buy things on impulse. I go with the intention of something, but something else catches my eye and without thinking twice I end up buying. My fav part in the book were her encounters with Derek. They were too funny and also her visit to museum and the part where she starts working for a shop as assistant. Too hilarious.
This is my second Sophie Kinsella's book and I really like her language and style of writing. However the ending was kinda unbelievable. I mean she suddenly becomes nobody to "somebody" in a day. It was kind of difficult to believe.

Updated:

The movie was very different from the book and I loved the book much more than the movie. Movie was pretty boring and not very funny.

I was a little bit afraid to read the book after I'd watched the movie. And now I'm very happy that I've read it. I had sooo much fun.

Although the main heroine, Rebecca, has a lot of problems in her life (with job, money, love life and great amount of wishes), the book isn't dull. Becky's naive view of life makes the story very interesting and funny. I loved to read about her dreams of winning the lottery or getting the cool job with fake details in her CV. And I was very happy, that she managed to make her life just a little bit better.

So if you're bored and stressed by what's going on in the world, just go and immerse yourself in Rebecca Bloomwood's world:))

I’ve read almost all of Sophie Kinsella’s stand alone novels and enjoyed them all. I have avoided the Shopaholic books because people being irresponsible and wasteful with money really frustrate me. As predicted, despite her charm and good heart, Becky made me angry and contemptuous. It was amusing in places and the end salvaged the book for me. She finally sees herself for what she is, acknowledges the ruin she has brought upon herself and innocent bystanders and makes it good. I got 10 % into the sequel to realize she had not learned her lesson and was worse than before. I couldn’t take any more. I quit reading Shopaholic Takes Manhattan and skipped through to the end. I won’t be reading anymore of these, going by the reviews of the rest in the series.
But I simply can’t tell my kind, loving parents that their so-called successful daughter with her so-called top job is in fact a disorganized, deceitful mess, up to her eyeballs in debt.

You forgot selfish, gluttonous, thoughtless, delusional, lazy, foolish, shallow, and just plain dumb. But Hey, if these are traits you don't mind in your leading lady, knock yourself out!
