I know that this book has an incredibly large following, but I didn't even make it half way. Maybe living grad school life for so long has taken its toll, but reading about the main character's financial difficulties and lack of responsibility stressed me out. Not funny to me at all.

So addictive I had trouble putting it down long enough to live my life. I could have easily read it in one sitting if I'd started it on a day off.

That said, if the next book ever pops up for really cheap, I definitely won't turn it down but I probably won't go out of my way to buy it.

DID NOT FINISH

arf what the ****. I never really understand people with her kind of problem. She's spending the money she doesn't have boohoo. but she get the job and the guy? -_- HEA

Can someone please tell me how can you not love Sophie Kinsella?
My brother suggested the movie adaptation of this book to me and I enjoyed it- A LOT! Then during one of my strolls, I accidentally laid eyes on the book (with Isla Fisher on the cover) and I just can't leave without buying it. I spend the night after with a lot of giggles and "uhuh" reactions while reading it. BECKY BLOOMWOOD is a total rockstar!

I can completely relate on Becky's perfectly awful journey in surviving the shopaholic life, for I'm an impulsive buyer myself! I enjoyed every mess Becky's got herself into and I both mourn and laugh for her unfortunate fate at the same time >:)
Since then, I started to buy the remaining books on her Shopaholic Series (because yeah, who can get enough of the legendary Becky Bloomwood, right?)

This book was actually the first book I've read outside the genre of fiction and fantasy- and it made me want to read more.
It's also a good thing that I have Sophie's books on my shelf- so that I can have something to read in between those fictional worlds.

So if you need some good laugh after mourning for those dreadful events on your fav character's life or you'd like to try something quite close to real life- I strongly suggest Sohpie Kinsella's books. You'll love Becky Bloomwood, trust me. :)

Too late

I’m catching up on all the chick lit I didn’t read 20 or so years ago and I think I’m past the point in my life where I relate. The book isn’t bad but is vapid and shallow. Much like with Bridget Jones, I just want to tell Becky to get her sh*t together.

At first I thought I would hate the book, it seemed to be so repeatative of the type of story line of the Devil Wears Prada. But I actually liked the book, and am willing to read more of the serious. It made me think about how I don't want to get into the troubles that Becky Bloomwood got into with her shopaholic ways. Boy, could i really do that, but thank goodness there is a person such as Matt in my house.

But, I also learned that Becky when she does hit rock bottom bounces to so much of a higher level that it is all good in the end and makes you want to live more of your life not just being stagnant but reaching to your best potential. Hummm,I wonder what that is!?

I listened to this book and enjoyed the British accent of the reader. Perhaps that's why I added an extra star. It was a light read, but Becky just drove me crazy with her stupidity sometimes! Sadly, I have probably done the same things and thought the same things as her, but hearing it all articulated was a little too much.

Super chic lit. Funny book. Not sure i am compelled to read the series, but I enjoy the main charachter. This book served as a guilty endulgence during a few pedicures.

Slightly disappointed in this one, especially since this is what made Kinsella famous. I thought Rebecca to be very shallow and was disappointed she didn't turn around faster. Maybe the sequels will add more depth to her character.
