I could not put this down, it was such an enjoyable read. I would put this in the top rankings of any true crime books. Throughout the whole thing you can feel the passion that Paul has got the work that he does and helping the victims. It was a very genuine telling of his own story and the Golden State Killer case, as well as many others that I was familiar with and others I had never heard of. I would recommend this to anyone that enjoys a good story.

This was an interesting story in catching the Golden State Killer. It may have cold cases in the name but all others are mentioned only briefly. The author also comes across as a not great person who doesn't particularly care for the people in his life. He swears he does but the way he describes them and his emotional affairs, you wouldn't know it.

It’s not about the details of the cold cases, but it’s not NOT about the details of the cold cases…it’s a brutally honest telling of a detective’s obsession with solving cold cases - 1 in particular that makes you think about true crime in a different way. The author lays bares his flaws and is pretty consistently unlikeable but also admirable for his determination and willingness to be so vulnerable. Worth a read if you like true crime and want to see more humanity and inhumanity in it.
