I really LOVED this book! This book takes place in the 1950’s and the two characters Ruby and Eleanor are two very different characters yet facing similar challenges. I was definitely feeling all the emotions with this book. I thought it felt very authentic in what was happening during this time. They had to face some tough decisions for their future. I loved the ending!

This was spectacular, I couldn't put it down.

I just finished The Prophets and was wondering how it could be topped and this is exactly how. I didn't realize until I finished, but the author of The Prophets actually has a blurb on the back cover that is perfect:

"Sadeqa Johnson is expert at excavating the parts that we would rather not confront. She mines this terrain with soaring grace, shining intellect, and a love that resonates on every page." - Robert Jones Jr.

Definitely going to add Johnson's other bestseller, Yellow Wife, to my TBR.
