adventurous mysterious

Raed this book for the Netherland and Flanders book group's spring challenge; read a book with Fruit in the title.

I would not have picked up this book, the title does not speak to me. But, I do love Jeanette Winterson's writing, so I wanted to give it a chance and started reading.

Weirdly enough, every time I picked it up to continue reading, I had forgotten everything that was written before and found myself going back to see what happened.
I couldn't even remember reading the previous lines.
Halfway the book, I realized "I have read this book before!" I am absolutely sure I have read the tale of the sisters at some point.

I take it all as a bad sign, not a memorable book, for me...

3 stars. I liked and appreciated the messages this book set off to convey but this wasn’t one of my favorites by Winterson. Gorgeously written as always but there was something about it that didn’t completely draw me in with this one unfortunately. Not bad but nothing amazing either but I’m still loving reading through this author’s back list.

I enjoyed it but found it a little hard to follow at times, perhaps because I read the audiobook and couldn't easily skip back a bit to check. Might have to revisit one day in book form!
