I am trying to find chapter books to read with my kindergartner at bed time, and this was our first pick of the year. It was fun to read an author from my childhood, but still have a book I don’t remember reading. Short of needing a warning to “not try this at home” it was a fun read and there were certainly a lot of giggles. Some of the word choice in the book was dated and I changed upon reading.

probably my favourite Roald Dahl book so far, I'd have given it a 3.5 if good reads allowed.
long story short: Georges grandmother is a right cunt and George fancies killing her as he's had a fuck full of her so he decides to make his own medicine with Engine Oil and all this poisonous stuff.
His grandmother takes the medicine and grows to be like 40feet and the parents are like "for fuck sake George" but his father tries to capitalise on the growth medicine as hes a greedy fucker and tries to create an army of gigantic farm animals. he then forces George to create a new medicine which ends up shrinking everything but his grandmother is a cunt and decides to drink all of the medicine and she shrinks so small that she dies. would have been easier if George just stabbed her in the heart.
