Not keen on some of the language, which was very outdated and quite inappropriate for children at times. Glad I’ve read this whilst my daughter could understand it, as I would hate for her to pick up on some of the language used. However, the story itself was quite amusing and whimsical.

funny lighthearted fast-paced

It’s hard to find a Roald Dahl book I haven’t read, but this was one of them! My sons and I listened to this one on audiobook during our drives to and from school and soccer this past week, and it inspired a lot of giggles and gasps. The book does start with a warning to not try to make medicine like George at home, as it could be dangerous. We all three agreed this was probably not a good selection for tiny ones who might get an idea to mix up a bunch of cleaners and chemicals from around the house to give to a person they don’t like… 😵 But for older kids and adults, it is quite an interesting, silly, crazy, and funny adventure. Poor Grandma! 🫣 This isn’t our top favorite Roald Dahl book, but we all enjoyed it and give it four tubes of interesting concoctions with interesting results. 🧪🧪🧪🧪
