This book read like a historical/contemporary fairy tale, down to the fairy (grand)mother. A gorgeous, ethereal read with likeable secondary characters and found family, while still touching on darker themes like how history impacts our present and future. Tia Williams has definitely become an autobuy author for me!

This did so much of what I was expecting but never in quite the way I expected it, and I enjoyed the hell out of this book.

What can I say about A Love Song for Ricki Wilde? The book was written so beautifully.  It takes you on a whimsical journey of two lovers destined to be together.  On the backdrop of Harlem over the span of 100 plus years you will fall in love with all these characters and not want to put this book down. I loved everything about this book. The plot, the characters, and it is set in February in a LEAP YEAR!!!!  I didnโ€™t want to put it down and I will think about these characters for a long time. @tiawilliams did her thing with this book.  Definitely recommend this book!!!!

I wanted to pick this up as soon as it was out and I wasn't disappointed! I read this over the course of one day because the intrigue was so high and the relationship was sizzling.

I did find the characters a little less fleshed out than they were in Seven Days in June. Both books deal with extremely harrowing racism, but I felt like we got more insight into the inner lives of Eva and Shane. Maybe just because we didn't actually spend that much time with young Ezra - I would have loved to spend more time there and I did not see the twist coming.

This story is unforgettable. It was a story filled with history, magic, love, and even pain. The story of Ezra and Ricki was beautiful, and I found myself captivated by the rich history of Harlem and its music, just like Ricki. I love that Ricki learned so much about herself, and found family friends, and love along the way.

I love how this coincidentally coincides with this yearโ€™s leap year. I feel as if this was 100% intentional. I throughly enjoyed this book. I dare say I enjoyed this more than Seven Days in June. This has humor, heartache, romance, honesty, grief and so much more. Ricki and Ezra will stay with me for a while and while neither of them are perfect, this demonstrates that no one truly is but when you are with the person that was meant for it - you can be almost close enough. P.S If anyone wants to buy me a night blooming jasmine so I can experience the scent and sights, please and thank you.

๐’œ ๐ฟ๐’ช๐’ฑ๐ธ ๐’ฎ๐’ช๐’ฉ๐’ข ๐น๐’ช๐‘… ๐‘…๐ผ๐’ž๐’ฆ๐ผ ๐’ฒ๐ผ๐ฟ๐’Ÿ๐ธ - by Tia Williams

This was my first read from Ms. Tia and I was pleased! I have been reading more of the more popular books to see if they live up to the hype, and this one I absolutely LOVED!!!!

Tia Williamsโ€™ writing style is so easy to get engrossed into. The characters were adoring. I loved Ricki and was rooting for her to tell her sisters where they could go They treated her horribly, but when they had the audacity to come to Harlem and thought they would jab at her in her own homeโ€ฆNo maโ€™am! I was there for it (โ€œThank you Ezraโ€).

And Ezraโ€ฆwow! I loved the entire storyline around his musical career and how it all tied into the two soulmates and the song that just couldnโ€™t be finished until he met Lilโ€™ Richard (๐˜บ๐˜ฐ๐˜ถโ€™๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฏ๐˜ญ๐˜บ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ ๐˜ฃ๐˜บ ๐˜ณ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฅ๐˜ช๐˜ฏ๐˜จ ๐˜ต๐˜ฉ๐˜ช๐˜ด ๐˜ฃ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฐ๐˜ฌ ๐Ÿ“•). Pure genius writing!!!

Ms. Della and Tuesday, were amazing characters as well. I felt the love they had for Ricki and with a family like hers, she needed the devotion and support they poured into her. For Christmas I am asking ๐Ÿง‘๐Ÿพโ€๐ŸŽ„ for a Ms. Della and Tuesday - ๐˜ฉ๐˜ฆโ€™๐˜ญ๐˜ญ ๐˜ฌ๐˜ฏ๐˜ฐ๐˜ธ ๐˜ธ๐˜ฉ๐˜ข๐˜ต ๐˜ ๐˜ฎ๐˜ฆ๐˜ข๐˜ฏ!

I โค๏ธ when every aspect of a book ties back to something so neatly. From Ezraโ€™s background, to Rickiโ€™s relationship with her family, to the rent party incident and Ms. Della, the piano, to even the little funny flora references, Ms. Tia leaves no stone unturned. No missing pieces with this one. No questions unanswered. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿฝ

This book will never make me look at leap years the same! Maybe โ€œMarch is really when things will make sense โ€œ ๐Ÿค”

I ๐‡๐ˆ๐†๐‡๐‹๐˜ ๐‘๐„๐‚๐Ž๐Œ๐Œ๐„๐๐ƒ this book!!! ๐Ÿ“ข

๐“Ÿ.๐“ข..: I loved the reference to Biggie and the lyric change in โ€œUnbelievable!โ€ That was hilarious! ๐Ÿคฃ

๐Œ๐˜ ๐‘๐€๐“๐ˆ๐๐†: 5/5 ๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽน๐ŸŽน Hands down!!!

I quickly found myself immersed in this book so curious of how the story would unfold. I liked Ricki (side note she deserved so much better than her family). The push and pull between her and Ezra was palpable. I found the interwoven perspectives and timelines to enhance the story. I really enjoyed this one and would recommend!
