Another triumph from Darcie Little Badger. Delightful characters, ace rep, Lipan stories, found family. A must-read for anyone from 13 to 153.

"A Snake Falls to Earth" is a super wholesome story with not much plot until the last part and some amazing characters. I absolutely adored the fact that I got to learn about the cultures, experiences and stories of Native American/Indigenous peoples.

The representation was SOLID in this one. We had an ace Indigenous person as our main character, another character who was also briefly mentioned to be ace, and one of the animal people's pronouns were they/them.

This is such a sweet, beautiful story! Once again Darcie Little Badger combines the beautiful stories of the Lipan Apache with today's technology and weaves a story of family love, loyalty to friends, and the need for natural preservation. Readers will feel sympathy for Oli's quest to save his friend, and mirror Nina's hopeful optimism as she tried to utilize the tools available to her.

-lgbtqiap+, ya, magical realism, parallel worlds, traditional lipan apache storytelling, monsters, magic, and family
-FRIENDSHIP GETS DEFINED IN THIS ONE!!
-rep: lipan apache ace- coded mc and minor ace- coded side character, one side character and a minor side character using they/ them pronouns

a snake falls to earth is one of the most beautiful books ive ever read!!
darcie little badgers’ stories are so simple yet so special, this book has definitely solidified my love for her writing and the beautiful worlds she so meticulously creates intertwined with traditional lipan apache storytelling!!

when oli, an animal person meaning he can switch between his true form (cottonmouth snake) and false form (human form) from a reflecting world and nina, a human girl from earth who have no idea of the other's existence cross paths through the most unexpected circumstances, they help each other through their worst nightmare!!
a unique story that is full of adventure and of life and the most amazing part being the characters who are amazing and selfless and are ready to bend hell for each other. i could not help but root for these kids and want to protect them from any and all harm. it is the sweetest and the most wholesome book ive read in a long while and i loved that there is no romance focussing more on the adventures and the friendship they formed (:
