I liked it but it lacked pizzazz. The other two books had me on the edge of my seat but this one left me planted in that seat with no hopes of going anywhere. I loved the many different queer representations and the other bright falls characters.

O my god, emotionally, sexually, gorgeous. Iris’ book has been building up, so her character has had a chance to be pretty visible, but I love that we see beyond the gregarious life of the party in this book. Beautiful narration as always. At first Iris is kinda grumpy sounding around her family, and I was wondering if the narrator had to change up the character’s personality, as a creative choice. But when she switches back to the Iris you get to know over two hooks, it was kinda jarring. Like oh she got LAYERS. I was ready.

And Stevie was thankfully not the annoying anxious. She tries to make the best of it, not anxiety her whole personality. And omgod when she developed Top energy and wooed Iris

I’m pretty sure I read the first one of these in the series but forgot to record it because all the characters in Iris’ friend group felt familiar. I felt meh about this one mostly because I hate the fake dating trope so much. Like how wouldn’t THAT cause Stevie a bundle of anxiety in it of itself? I got anxious just reading it. Def some good parts though - we love a queer romance!

This was a cute story, and a fun, light read with a lot of heart in it. It was fun to see the common characters all the way through the arc of the trilogy. Each one had its own charm, but I have to say, this one felt like the weakest of the three. It might be because I didn't personally feel super connected to either of the main characters. But the characterization of Stevie's anxiety disorder felt off to me (I'm a therapist), like it was an anxiety disorder written by someone who looked up Generalized Anxiety Disorder on Wikipedia. That sort of tarnished an otherwise decent book for me.
