It took a little long to get going. The conundrum is introduced in the first few chapters, and it takes a while for the plot to kick off - the author spends a while building dynamics between characters. This is objectively well done, but it didn't pull me in as I'd hoped. Once the plot kicks in, I was invested though, and the ending is beautifully done - a very fitting end to this book. All in all, very enjoyable read and would recommend.
I can NOT with how gorgeous this book is. I legit thought I was going to be devastated by the ending but I just... it ended so much better than I ever could have imagined it would. I'm just... I have no words for how delightful this was.

“For a brief moment, god and gumiho stare at each other with matching expressions of stubborn dislike that seem to mask, on both sides, a flickering of respect.”
What happens when a fallen god and a previously notorious serial killer team up to catch a demon who has the ability to kill even the gods themselves? Chaos (and also falling in love).
I enjoyed this book so much. I don’t watch a lot of k-dramas but this one very much gave off that vibe—think Goblin and My Demon. I loved knowing about the different creatures of Korean folklore (wish there was a glossary tho). Hani and Seokga’s banter was entertaining to read because they really knew how to push each other’s buttons.
I’m very glad that I decided to read this a few days before the second book came out because I lost my mind after that ending😭😭

I’ve got the blessing/curse of having a memory like a sieve for details of books- usually after a couple weeks everything fades and I’m left with a memory of how the book made me feel. So I’m hesitant to start unfinished series since I pretty much have to reread the first to continue on when the second comes out, and reading time is precious. I don’t think I knew that there was a sequel when I read this last year, but it was one of a select few that I’m not mad about rereading. That was a longwinded way to say I really enjoyed this, and the audiobook narration is A+. My main recollection from last year was giggling, and that was true this time around too- it’s a goofy over the top mix that works much better and on more levels than you’d think.

I LOVED this book. This was one of my favorite reads of this year. Seokga was such a fun character to read and his perspective of Hani always riling him up and messing with him was so amusing and cute to read. Hani's character as a person who loves riling up Seokga just to see his composure crack was adorable and hilarious. I eagerly await the next book <3

Hani struggling with falling in love with Seokga and being the Scarlet Fox that he has to kill was a very compelling plotline, and while I did feel the resolution was a tad rushed, I don't think it was in a negative way whatsoever. That plotline added such a beautifully painful air in the end when she died for him to regain his abilities. The twist of who the actual enemy was and Hani's friend being entangled in it was such a heart rending plot twist.

This book is so GOOD 😭. I love Hani so much — who is this DIVA?! She’s the STAR. And Seokga is so adorable; I just want to hug him so badly. This book is the ultimate grumpy x sunshine trope, and it never feels cringy. Also, the tension is TENSIONING in this book — I was screaming, giggling, and kicking my feet. By the end, I was sobbing. My man was on his hands and knees, begging for her soul to be reincarnated. I was in pain. Anyway, I LOVED IT!
