I read this in one day and absolutely loved it! It was the perfect book to have on while I was doing chores. Such a fun and nostalgic Halloween read! You can hear more of my thoughts on this vlog: https://youtu.be/QDlkdUh-c3g

I'm not exactly writing a review, but am re-reading these for a little bit of the nostalgia factor. I am pretty sure I owned all of these when I was a teenager, maybe they are still trapped in a box somewhere. A couple of them are included in my Kindle Unlimited membership, so I figured I would borrow them. I can see why I devoured these as a teen. They were straight up brain candy compared to what I was used to reading. The parents usually told my sister and me, "there's the bookcase, read a book". This means I was reading Stephen King in grade school. Probably not the best idea, but that's the way it was. The books offered in the school library very rarely challenging enough or engaging enough, but sometimes I found something that interested me. When I started babysitting and earning my own money, these were popular and I obviously loved horror, so it made sense to purchase them.

The motive behind a meticulously planned Halloween party is slowly revealed. This is a fun read with a few set-ups so you're not quite sure what is going on until it's made obvious.

This was a fast-paced read that is perfect for October. In my opinion, RL Stine did a kind of obvious setup, but that didn't take away from the jump scares or the mounting feeling of dread as the story played out.

I liked the callback to some of the characters in stories I've already read. I noticed a few minor plot holes (like Angela was at the sleepover weekend on Fear Island with Ricky but they didn't acknowledge it). And the fact that she wanted to get revenge on innocent kids for the actions of their parents (that SEEMED like an accident from how I read it) was horrifying.

But I really enjoyed this story regardless. Would recommend.

One of my all time favorite books when I was a kid. I think it's prime for a re-read.
