Fun and easy read.

I was hoping for a bit more tension, but, unfortunately, Maddox and Ashley were adults and talked about their attraction to each other and agreed to a fling during the trip. So, there is no tension/longing other than a couple of quick instances at the beginning.

I was really annoyed by Banks at the beginning, but he got better towards the end. I loved that he got so pissed off for Ashley after he found out her ex hit her.

Another thing I really loved was Becca’s advice to Ashley. Becca’s story is heartbreaking, but she made the most sense out of everyone.

I was not a fan of Maddox and Ashley getting engaged as soon as they made up. They never even really dated. They just jumped into this relationship (sexually, at first) and then BAM! - engaged. Not just that, but planning to get married a couple days later. I guess you can write it off by stating that they’ve been friends forever and have just been waiting for each other all this time, but I still think it’s too soon.

This one was just okay for me. I actually liked the storyline, and I do enjoy a good friends to lovers. However, for such a short book that could have benefited from more relationship development, it took a long time to really get started. The setup for this took 33% of the book. And that was just a really long intro. Most of the reviews I've read mention that it's a slow burn. And I don't feel like that's technically true. Not in the context of the novel anyway. From the perspective of the characters, sure! They've been friends since they were small children. But in the case of this book, once you get through the 33% long intro, that takes place over a very short period of time, they actually go from flirty friends to all out lovers in no time at all. If you typically read books for the satisfaction and titillation of a true slow burn, you won't find that here. There was also an awful lot of exposition about the MMC's family structure. In a way, I understand why that was happening, because this is the first in a series. But, it felt heavy-handed and certainly lended wait to the already long intro. This is my second book from this author, it might just be that her writing style and my desires as a reader don't quite mesh. The book was technically well written, and I'm sure the story will be tops for many readers.

I love the way Mad loves Ashley.

This book is just perfection. Maddox and Ashley are just... everything. Everytime Adriana Locke writes a new story it's my favourite but this one... this one is one I know I'll go back to again and again. A summer must read.

Is mid forties to old to be adopted?? Not asking for a friend ;) Seriously y’all the Carmichaels are so freaking awesome

This was such a sweet story! I loved the contest for her honeymoon date and how the winner was selected. I really enjoyed seeing Maddox fall for her. I also really enjoyed their relationships with their family and friends.

*4.5. Seriously loved this! It was light, fun, and hot

Friends to lovers, fake honeymoon, lots of steam and more brothers to read about
