Mort Sur Le Nil

Agatha Christie

This book was published nearly 90 years ago and, by modern standards, some remarks could be considered racist but given the context of the book, I think it can't be helped. Setting aside this negative aspect, the mystery itself is excellent (best in fact among her books regarding alibi). As with character development, I think she has done a fantastic job shedding light on each character on board the ship. My only complaint is that this book is a bit too long and some unnecessary conversations can be eliminated (especially those concerning her traveling).

This was a good one. I liked the characters and the mystery was as twisted as always. It was fascinating to see it all play out.

Better than Murder of the Orient Express

Classic Ye Olde Colonial Christie - especially fun on audio.

Agatha Christie is a who-done-it genius. It was engaging from the start, and such a fun book to follow along. It was my first Agatha Christie novel where I guessed the guilty correctly! :D

Well, now I understand why Agatha Christie's books are considered classics. The slow buildup allows the major characters/suspects to be established so you're at least a little suspicious of each and every one - a perfect setup. After the murder, the focus is put on revelations about the suspects and solving the mystery, which helps keep the plot interesting without meandering. I'll definitely be reading more Christie novels after this!

Agatha Christie's writing style never fails to captivate the audience. If you enjoy Murder on the Orient Express, then this one is a must. I instantly wanna go to Egypt and cruise down the Nile even more. An amusing read indeed.

Full review on my blog!

It has been a hot minute since I last read an Agatha Christie novel. However, when the new Death on the Nile movie came out, I just knew that I would have to read it so I could later complain about all the changes made for the movie.
