Amazing. Engrossing which was nice. If a film isn't made of this book ill be really surprised. It's pretty effectively unnerving if not frightening. A couple of elegant twists but no big surprises. Really good.

I listened to the audiobook which was very suspenseful. There is an overall feeling of dread and of something lurking around the corner. Defintely had me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

I love unique stories with truly original plots! In this well-written fable of a world gone mad and the will to survive, Malorie must protect her babies from ever viewing what is outside. Beyond a story of survival, Mallerman spins a tale of the lengths a mother will go to protect her children. An absolute page turner!

Loved this one - can’t wait to read the sequel!

"Something is out there . . .

Something terrifying that must not be seen. One glimpse and a person is driven to deadly violence. No one knows what it is or where it came from."

4.5 stars for this book. This was a terrifying story for someone like me who hates the dark. I'm the type of person who turns on lights as I move through my dark house so the idea of living constantly in the dark using only my other senses to stay alive is horrifying. This was a highly original psychological thriller (IMO) with suspense & terror. I read it in almost one sitting because it's definitely how this one should be read. I also read most of this book with a knot in my stomach...always the sign of a good suspenseful story. It's not too gory though with most of the suspense and horror left to your imagination. Highly recommend.

Looking forward to future books from this author.

This book was a weird one, but like most of the other books I've talked about, I really liked it.  I heard about it on the Book Riot podcast, and it was creepy as hell.  There were a couple of moments that were truly terrifying.  I am curious about what it is that drives people to violence, and how it even came to be.  On the one hand, growing up in the world could be a good thing, because it's the only world you've ever known, and you're better able to handle it because you don't know what it was like before.  But on the other hand, you'll never know what the world was like before it happened.  I can't imagine having to go outside blindfolded.  At least with the zombie apocalypse, you can see.  Not with this one.  I ended up getting the audio book (which I haven't listened to yet), because in a world narrated by someone who's blindfolded, and trying to get to a safe community, you wonder what the book would be liked if you listened to it.  I'm assuming you'd really be immersed in the world, and one of these days, I'll have to listen it.  I really don't want to give it away, so it's probably good this review is really short.  Bird Box gets 4 stars.

What a creepy tale of the end of civilization. I didn't think I would be able to read it as I do not like scary ideas, but I started listening to the audiobook, but of course, had to switch to the Kindle. I had to pause it and rewind during the scary parts because my terrified mind could not process what was happening to Mallory.

I did not watch the Netflix movie yet, but my guess is the book is definitely better. And this is a story with multiple layers so a person can watch the movie and still read the book after.
