I just love these books. They're a good easy fun read that more often than not make me laugh out loud. That being said, this time around I knew exactly who the killer was the first time Stephanie gets an inkling she might know the killer. It was too obvious and I don't believe I've felt that way about the Plum books previously. Still, I enjoyed it thoroughly and would recommend it to any Plum fan. My only real disappointment was the lack of Morelli and Ranger in this one. Oh, they're both there and there are some great scenes, but I wanted more. So much more. More details, more action, more wanting- just more. Guess I'll have to wait until this fall for that.
I liked it a lot, but really? NO ONE SAW WHO WAS REALLY THE KILLER? I get fooled by Scooby Doo and even I knew from the beginning it was Dave!
Ok this one was extremely predictable and oddly the sex was annoying. I really don’t mind usually but it was just annoying in this book.
Listened. Stephanie goes after a self-described vampire and destroys two more cars and has three people wanting to kill her. She is also wooed by a former high school classmate, Dave, who can cook like a dream. Lots of fun.
Love this series, but now, every book is more of the same.
Another fantastic Stephanie Plum novel! Can't wait for book 18 this November!
As always, a few laugh out loud funny moments. And it did make me want to start 18 right away...
I can't do anymore after this. I tried Janet, I tried.
Two and one-third stars: three stars if I'm rounding up, two stars if I'm rounding to the nearest whole integer.
I tried to think about how I would rate this book if I didn't have 16 books worth of previous attachment to these characters in my head. Yeah, some of the jokes would be newer, but then something like mentioning the name "Sally Sweet" wouldn't mean anything. I decided it's a wash.
I used to rush out and read these books as soon as they were released. Now... there's no hurry to it. I'm not to the point of forgetting to look for the books in this series, but we're getting there.
I think she's a little scared. No, not Stephanie; I mean Janet Evanovich. I think her other book series haven't done as well as this one and so this is her best foot forward. I think she's at least a little scared that if she changes this series too much, she'll break it and never have another one like it. But the truth is, part of what made the series good in the beginning was seeing Stephanie work her way into a difficult job. The jokes may have been newer, but it was the mistakes Stephanie made as she learned that made the books fun. She was learning and changing. Now, she's not.
I'll still read the next one, because 17 was slightly better than 16. Maybe the characters are a changin'.
