I enjoyed this book better than the last two in the Stephanie Plum series. I still think that the "mystery" was wrapped up too quickly at the end but at least the characters and relationships evolved and it didn't feel like I had read the book before. I'll continue to read the series, mostly because I'm so invested, and hopefully they'll return to the quality of the original books in the series.

Not the best installment in the series. I didn't laugh out loud once.

This book was so much better than the previous. I was dreading reading this book because the previous ones weren't as good as te earlier ones. This was great and I loved the story line. I laughed many times like I did with the earlier books. I was pleasantly surprised.

I do love this book series. It always makes me laugh. But I do think its starting to get into the just ridiculous catagory with stuff that happens. It was way more believable about 10 books ago.

Old, tired recycled story lines...years pass and the characters never change and the author just writes the same book over and over again. Waste of time and money as the last books barely qualify as novels vs. short stories.

Stephanie Plum and the gang have, over time, become a staple of my summer season. They just go hand-in-hand. Admittedly, I have been pretty disappointed with Janet Evanovich's last few novels; they started going downhill with Lean Mean Thirteen and never really recovered. However, I never gave up the series because, like I said, they were a habitual part of summer for me. I'm especially glad I didn't give it up, however, because Smokin' Seventeen is one of the best in this series to date.

The last few novels have used the same, recycled humor and contained plenty of eye-rolling moments. Janet's old tricks were no longer funny in my opinion since they were used a pathetic amount of times. In this novel, the series finally felt like it was getting back on track. Sure, the occasional monkey and car explosion are still there, but they were done with much more skill than has been displayed in previous novels. This is actually one of the funniest novels in the series in my opinion. I laughed out loud more than I remember laughing in any other Plum novel. Lula stuck out in my mind the most since I was starting to get tired of her character because she has been more annoying than humorous. In this, however, she was back to her old self; she was just as funny as she was in the very beginning of this series.

Anything a fan can ask for and has come to expect from a Stephanie Plum novel is all here. There's even some development of the love triangle that has been so stagnant over the last few books. Stephanie still seems to be, inevitably, confused about who she will choose, but readers still get plenty of "vordo"-induced scenes to see which guy they like more. And the hardcover comes with "I love Morelli" and "I love Ranger" stickers. How neat is that?

Not only does it have the romance and the laughs, but Seventeen has one of the most put-together mystery story lines in the series. Recently, they were all sub-par plots and were wrapped up disjointedly and idiotically, but this storyline had some logic infused into it, and it was wrapped up pretty nicely.

Overall, if you thought the last few were a waste and have completely jumped the Plum ship, I would try this one. And I got a little too excited when I discovered I don't have to wait a full year for the next one; Eighteen comes out in November.

Babe.

One of my favorites so far.

I immediately fell for Stephanie Plum ... how can you not! She is a train wreck with plenty of mascara, and a fantastic family! Can't wait for more adventures!

BTW ... I am TOTALLY Team Ranger! Also Lula is AMAZING ... we all need a Lula in our lives! I have decided I want to be adopted by the Plums so I can have a Grama Mazur!

I have read the first 22 as well as the In-Between the Plums stories and I am so ready for the next several!

Yay! Ranger action! And the next one comes out next month. I wonder who she's taking on vacation??
