Oh, this book made me realise, once again, how much of an awesome character Kelsier was! A short (and by Brandon Sanderson’s standards, a tiny) story about how Kelsier finds a purpose to do what he sets out to do in the 1st book of Mistborn Era 1: The Final Empire.
Worthy of 45 odd minutes I ended up spending finishing the story.

This is a very very short story so it’s hard to rate this. It’s good though. It’s a fun little semi prequel short story about Kelsier and his origin before he was the incredibly skilled and charismatic character we know from the Mistborn trilogy. It was nice to go back to reading about Kelsier after being done with Mistborn for a while now, and I enjoyed getting to see his call to action in this little short story. Overall I would prrrrrooooobably give this a 3.5/5 just because it’s so short there’s not really much to say about it. But hey, gotta start somewhere. I love Kelsier as a character though, and I will take any content of him that I can get.

(Read from Arcanum Unbounded: The Cosmere Collection)

A good short story about Kelsier's training as a Mistborn. It, while being good, is not exceptional (hence the four out of five stars, rather than five out of five), and all it mostly does is shed light on Gemmel. Nothing much to say really, aside from what I've already said.

A good read for fans of Mistborn, but it does not add much to Scadrial.

The Eleventh Metal is a super short story, but a fun one—especially if you’re a Mistborn fan. It gives a little glimpse into Kelsier’s back story, which I really enjoyed. Seeing him during his early days of training and dealing with everything after the Pits adds some nice depth to his character.

It also clears up how he found out about the mysterious “eleventh metal,” which has always been a bit vague in the main books. So that was cool to see spelled out a bit more.

It’s definitely not essential reading, and it’s over pretty quickly, but if you’re about to start the Mistborn trilogy (or are already a fan), it’s a neat little prequel that adds some flavor without taking much time.

Cute, but it's whatever I guess. Would serve good as an introduction to the series (as Sanderson himself said)!

Very short, but it's a classic and solid Sanderson story. Enjoyable, and the perfect thing to get me back in the mood to read more Sanderson.

A very short story that does a good job of introducing the elements of the Mistborn world, and also give new information on stuff like where the 11th metal myth came from and what Kel’s trainer was really like.
