I enjoyed getting to know Miranda in this book. Refreshing to see a strong woman who came from an abused background. I liked to see her develop into a strong independent woman. Looking forward to reading the next one in the series.

I really liked the premise of this book. However, I did have quite a few problems with it; the main one being that I thought it focussed way too much on the romantic side of things. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good mystery-romance, but in this case, I would have preferred the romance to have come second to the mystery rather than first. It felt as though there wasn’t enough focus on the important things, just the main relationship.

In addition to this, I didn’t find the romance all that great either. It felt like it came out of nowhere. I like a good buildup, I like there to actually be chemistry. I don’t like when (even in just the beginning) everything is focussed on the lust side of things.

I also expected more from the big reveal. Sadly, it left me utterly disappointed.

On the lighter side of things, I did really enjoy Miranda’s character and how her past shaped her into who she was. I also really liked the place where Miranda and Parker’s relationship was at in the end.

I honest,y think the book could have worked well as a stand-alone with a few minor changes, however, I’m not upset that it’s not. But, I will say, I won’t be reading anymore of the series.

I liked it. The twist was a little unexpected. I like to read about a tough and smart woman. I only hope that the author continues to help the leading lady heal and that the two leads get together!

Poorly researched with dialogue that is stilted and absurd. Aggravating stereotypes of southerners and law enforcement/private investigators. Had to suspend reality way too much for the basic premise to work.

It was a bit hard for me to get into. It was ok and a quick read. I enjoyed it for what it was.

Pretty Woman meets Batman meets Criminal Minds meets Monk. The writing was formulaic at best, the word choice was unoriginal, and the plot was more than predictable. There was minimal storyline and what little there was felt artificial. The characters were one dimensional and over the top perfectly flawed.
