I liked the way the story wrapped up but that was about it. I'm not keen on the backstory of both Madison Harper and the other detective as you need to keep reading these books for their own mysteries to be solved. I found Madison to be bland and lacking in personality, and the other detective, without giving spoilers, he made stupid decisions for someone with his history. I wouldn't recommend this but clearly people like it so might just not be my style.
Trying something new pays off.
Not my usual genre but man did these book suck me in.
Midson and Nate come from completely different worlds but have a shared experience.
Both wrongly convicted and have done time in jail.
I think what I liked so much was they weren't looking for a friend but they become that because they get each other. They don't have to agree on anything and most times they don't but they can see things from the other side of the bars now. I think that gives them an edge in a way others might not.
Nate a Private investigator now is hired to do a job and Madison former police detective become an unstoppable team.
This book I never figured out who did it. I liked that the most, then again I never guess right anyways.
I really enjoyed the narration.

This is an excellent crime thriller that I really enjoyed. Madison Harper teams up with a private investigator named Nate to look into the disappearance of a young girl from summer camp. Before the case is resolved, they will learn that nothing is the way it seems. Madison and Harper have unusual backstories and each are trying to find out who had been out to get them in the past. The girl's disappearance is resolved, but not Madison and Nate's individual situations. I will definitely be reading the next book to find out what happens next for them.
What a terrific start to a new series, this introduces ex Detective Madison Harper and PI Nathaniel Monroe/Nate. Both are ex convicts and Nate was previously training to become a priest before being wrongly sent to death row for the murder of his fiancée, who he had chosen over priesthood.
Knowing they were both framed they are on a mission of revenge as they also pool their combined skills to solve the case of twelve year old Jenny who has disappeared while at summer camp. Three stories and three cases to solve but not once confusing and I’m easily confuddled.
The main characters are two very broken but strong individuals who can now see crime and justice from both sides. It also shows how certain individuals can use religion as a get free from jail card, while being rotten to the core. Whereas the good who genuinely have faith but find love are seen as being tempted by the devil and are jailed even though innocent.
Hired by Jenny’s grandmother they travel to the family home and meet what seems a perfectly ordinary family, a distraught mother and a father burying his head in the sand assuming she’s just run away and will be back. Something however just doesn’t seem right.
These aren’t spoilers as it all comes out fairly early on, the rest of the book has a very skilled multi layered plot with some nice twists and unexpected surprises. I loved both Madison and Nate equally and the dynamic of their partnership worked perfectly. Good vs Evil is always a winner for me and this has it in spades. Already looking forward to the next book and a new series to be addicted to.

Madison is an ex cop, falsely convicted of murder. She seeks out Nate, a former priest and former inmate on death row, exonerated of killing his fiancee, to help clear her name. Little does she know that offering to help with his latest case, a girl gone missing from summer camp, will put her in danger.
Shadow Falls is the first in the Madison Harper/Nate Monroe PI series that is a delightful mix of police procedural and psychological thriller.
Madison is an intriguing character. She's still recovering from her stay in prison and keeping a lot of secrets to herself, obviously not sure who to trust. Nate on the other hand is a very damaged character, clinging to his sanity in hopes of finding his fiancee's actual killer.
This story contains the old missing child trope common to detective fiction, something I'm not usually a fan of being a mother myself, but the author really did a good job with such an emotional subject.
For me, the first half of the book didn't quite grip me as much as I would have liked, but the shocking ending made up for that. Also, it doesn't end on a cliffhanger exactly, but it leaves you with questions that will hopefully be answered in the next book.
Shadow Falls is a well-written detective story with plenty of shocks and surprises along the way.

The problem with reading a book before its publication date is that there is longer to wait for the next book in the series! This book was excellent. It was new and refreshing and not your typical crime/mystery novel. I look forward to reading the other books in the series once they are written!

I really enjoyed this book! Can’t wait to continue with the series.
5/5 stars!
I LOVED THIS BOOK!
From the first few lines I was hooked and had trouble putting down this book. Find My Child is the story of former Detective Madison Harper and Private Investigator Nate Monroe, who team up together to investigate the case of a missing child from a summer camp in Shadow Falls, California on behalf of the grandmother. Everyone is keeping to themselves and not offering any information, even the local police. As information gets uncovered and secrets revealed, this case begins to feel like it's not how it seems.
So let's get into it... this book had me nervously reading faster and faster to find out more, and the more I found out the more I wanted to know. The intensity and pace of this novel is unparalleled. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way through. The plot seems straight-forward, but there are so many twists and turns that keep you guessing. This definitely adds a layer of suspense to this crime novel. Dranfield is an excellent writer and has put forth an extraordinary story that holds the reader's attention and leaves them wanting more! I think that this novel is very well written, and the plot reveal was very well done. The ending is perfect, leaving you on the edge of the proverbial cliff, wanting to have the second part of this series in your hands. Alas, that is not possible! But I will be adding the next novel in Dranfield's series to my wish-list, no doubt about it!
I enjoyed Madison's and Nate's characters. They were well-written and dynamic. Each having their own pasts that contribute to the story and their motivation at investigating and seeking justice for others. I am excited to see where the future novels will bring us and how their characters and individual stories will progress.
I would like to thank Netgalley and the publisher of this advanced digital copy for the opportunity to read this novel in exchange for an honest review! I will also be posting my review to Amazon Canada upon publishing.

This was a good story however the back of the book and what happens in the book don’t really match. Firstly in this book Madison is an EX-Con and not even close to being an detective secondly, the book is more about Nate, who is also an Ex-Con. If you are going into this thinking it’s about a police detective you will be in for a surprise.
