Overall i liked this book. It was kind slow in some parts, but it was interspersed with flashbacks to Loris childhood which helped the pace a lot. The whole book is really dark with some pretty good gore, but really predictable especially when you get about 75% through. I liked the imagery of the river turning into hell.

totally unintentionally but really interesting how this can be read as an allegory of women’s dedication to protecting abusive men and alliance to the patriarchy in hopes of not being “left behind” or somehow protected but ultimately they’re still fucked over by the same system they’ll betray other women and even themselves to protect lol.
full brutal was one of the books i read years ago that got me back into reading and it’s funny because now i think this book is doing the same after a bit of a slump! easy to read but never comes off as juvenile. unlike other “extreme horror” or whatever, i actually believe that thought and care was put into making this book and not just throwing shit at a wall which makes it not only disturbing ofc but also actually engaging and enjoyable to read and take in. can’t wait to read other works of his!

This was a great read. It has a very unlikeable main character and a story I really didn’t see coming.
This is not a long one so very easy to get though and is fast paced so really keeps you hooked. It had some really shocking moments that I didn’t see coming.
I loved the creation of Lori’s character. She is awful and has no redeeming qualities which is the kind of character I like to read.
Some of this book moved really quickly, so my only complaint is the length. I would love some of the themes in this book to have been explored in more depth.
