I liked this book… I didn’t love it. I’m not even sure how much I really liked it.

I thought that the way he went backwards in time and revealed things felt very natural and was interesting, I was definitely surprised by the twists.

Her character being presented initially as the caretaker was fun to watch unravel - especially because from the first page you really get the impression that she feels trapped, that she feels like she’s obligated, that she wishes she could be anywhere else.

The obsession with the serial killer and the willingness to go to any lengths for approval from him. That was interesting. I actually really enjoy in books and movies when people go to unbelievable lengths for things - when they do things that you would never have the will or want to do.

i think the ending really ruined this for me, lori is one of the most horrible loathsome main characters ive ever encountered and the end for her should have been brutal. i think a conclusion like that would have made this reading experience more final, put a balance to all the horrifying wrongs lori had done, and feel like the book was worth reading to begin with. not a bad book, but i think my gripe mainly is men writing books, especially with female main characters, dont do them justice. its lazy writing. ive concluded with this being the first extreme horror book ive read, that extreme horror is not the problem, but the way it is told by the author is. excited to read some more extreme books written by women thank you.
