In the sixth book of the Merry Gentry series the king of the Seelie court, Taranis has accused several of Meredith's guards of a crime and seeks justice from the human courts. If that sounds really dumb, it's because it is. It was also quite boring to read about.

However, there are crrraazzzzyyy revelations in this book once we get past the weirdo lawyers mirror calling stuff. There is by far the most movement of the plot in this book than any of the others (except for the one where Meredith becomes a potential heir to the throne, I guess) and it's a can-not-miss.

A Lick of Frost (whose name was devised to embarrass me) also ends on an insane cliffhanger so make sure you have the next one ready to go.

Four stars after knocking one off for the boring plot devise to get us here.

It had been a while since I read a book in this series and i didn't remember everything but was reminded as I read this book. I did enjoy this one and seeing the effects of Merry's hands of power has on those around her. Less sex in this one, which went with the story. Not missed really.

Ok, so we actually get a lot of progression here.

Merry and her gang have left the court behind and are back in LA, but of course court politics have not left her. Now, Taranis, the King of the Seelie court has accused three of Merry's men of raping a lady of his court. Blindsided by this accusation, Merry has no choice but to confront her uncle about his lies. But of course this doesn't go as planned and has disastrous consequences.

I remember being so excited to read this book because Frost was one of my favorite characters. And dang, he goes through some shit in this - I'm honestly not sure how he's going to come back from it either. But while the plot moved forward, the book was a little slow. Again, pacing has always been a issue of mine with Hamilton. For once I would like the book to move the plot forward while also maintaining the intensity and focus of this story. It's either all sex or all mirror talking. There seems to be no in between.

I still want the showdown between Merry and Cel though and if that never happens this series will be a sham.

This is the sixth book in the Meredith Gentry series and so far the most heart breaking. Loved it but I cried almost all the way through it. Really hope to see the Killing Frost again.

Such a good follow up to the last book. Finally making progress, Merry is finally pregnant, but there is more then one father which is very confusing. She is pretty much in line for the throne of two courts, but it's going to be interesting to see if she makes it to either one. Her uncle is crazier then ever and I can't imagine what kind of disturbing things is going to happen with him in the next book. Merry seems to come from a long line of crazy people , placed in positions of power....on to book # 7!

This one is a tear jerker

Poor Merry. I can’t even imagine the pain of going through what she endured in this book, and that’s saying something. I am eager for the next novel and preparing to dive right in again... (I can’t even count the times I’ve read this series but it NEVER gets old or boring!)
I’m so happy with some of the news in this book though!! What an AWESOME outcome as far as baby daddy’s go!! Whoo-hoooooo!!

Wow! So much happened in this book. I am loving this series, but THIS book is my new #1!

Frost is a favourite of mine and the title A LICK OF FROST promised more backstory about our Jackie Frost, I was not disappointed, we got lots of Frosty time in this instalment.

As I said I am loving this series but this book in particular was just right for me and I just rushed through it, everything seemed to flow and as always the descriptions were gorgeous. I just love the way the Seelie and Unseelie Courts are described. Every room has a new revelation, sometimes good sometimes not so.

The dynamics between Merry and her men continue to change in this book. There are some heart wrenching/emotional scenes I warn you now.

SPOILERS!!
——————————————————-

The departure of Frost was the saddest part of this book for me (my favourite!!!). I of course despaired over this but in some ways I actually liked that not everything went too smoothly for Merry. She has so many beautiful men (although she has given up Nicca to his true love which I was very happy about — true love wins!). But why why did it have to be Frost?? But there is hope that he could come back! Fingers crossed!

The two attacks were very well written and full of nail biting suspense. The second made me afraid for Merry which is a feat for a heroine that you KNOW is going to be around for the next 3 books (because they are waiting on your bookshelf).

THE PREGNANCY!! I have been waiting for this since book1!! I thought the reveal that her sickness was morning sickness was well done, I am usually watching so hard for any pregnancy type symptoms that I can see through any ‘oh it is just the sniffles’ fake outs but the fact that Merry is part mortal and so the fact that she can get mortal sickness is a very big plot point so I missed it. Making the reveal that she was pregnant all the more awesome.

I am still not sure how I feel about the twins parentage. It just seems a little to convenient that Merry will be Queen to more than one King. I was waiting for her to have to choose only one (the father of her baby) and wondering what the consequences of her choice would be. Would the men go back to being royal guards? How would Merry herself react at not being able to love more than her King? What would happen when the guards started finding other romantic partners? I was looking forward to the angst dammit!

Anyway this book was just awesome. Go and read it right now.

5 Stars - Loooved this book. This whole series is right up my alley.
