Britney’s story is so sad and the amount of trauma she was dealt at such young age is awful. That sad, this memoir left me wanting more and it was written in a way where it felt pieces were left out on purpose. Someone else mentioned this books feels like a teenagers journal, and they aren’t wrong at all.  I was hoping she would go deeper with her story. She doesn’t touch upon too much after the conservatory is disbanded, which I was hoping she would. I’m a huge fan of her, and kudos on surviving everything she endured, but this book was not a great reflection of her amazingness. I also had to listen to this audio book on 1.3x speed to tolerate the narrator. I was disappointed she didn’t read her own book, but I understand why she couldn’t.

The writing sounds very much like how Britney would speak, which I think is a testament to either how good her ghost writer was, how much she actually wrote herself, or perhaps a bit of both. It didn’t get too deep into anything, but then again, I don’t know if it should’ve. The point of the book was to tell things from her perspective, not psychoanalyze her time in the conservatorship. The book didn’t  come out that long after it ended, so she may not have been ready to get too deep into it. She said what she wanted to say and that’s that.

Wow. Damm. Britney has a compelling and heart wrenching story. It's one thing to read about it in the news and its another thing to read and her own family trapping her from her pov. The things she went through sound almost made up they're that insane. Unfortunately this was clearly written by a singer and not an author. It reads like a 13 year olds diary. It has no real structure and lots of stories/chapters have like no value. The story also just ends? Like no moral or overarching conclusion. Just weird. Wish it was ghostwritten almost. Very compelling though.

This might be one of the most important books that I've ever read. I went into this book expecting to get some celebrity truth-telling, but it's an incredible reflection on what it means to be a woman and a person. To be free to make your own choices. It's harrowing. It hit me so hard, and I'll be buying a copy because it's incredible. The tone of delivering all of these horrible experiences while being so straightforward? I thought I supported Britney before, but god. I care about her so much.

While I had hoped for more depth to this book, I am extremely happy that Britney is finally able to share her story. She deserves a wonderful life with her kids and trusted friends.
