This is the book that got me out of my reading slump. I loved all the twists and turns. I think it was a really good take on the YA dystopian genre that hasn’t really been touched in about a decade. I’m really excited for the Korean drama they’re making based on this series as well as the second book. I would say the comp titles don’t match the book very well.
Graphic: Emotional abuse, Racial slurs, Suicide, Classism
Moderate: Addiction, Alcoholism, Death, Domestic abuse, Self harm, Toxic relationship, Xenophobia, Death of parent, Murder, Gaslighting, Injury/Injury detail
Minor: Cancer, Cursing, Gun violence, Physical abuse, Medical content
Lots of characters getting hurt due to cold/frostbite

Dystopia. Doppelgängers. Climate change. Reality TV. All of these play a major role in this creative imagining of a future world that is bitterly cold, except within the snow globe. The globe, is a man made environment, with weather modulated on live stream broadcast by a lottery-like drawing of weather characteristics for the coming day. The person responsible for these drawings is the weather reporter. This prized position is filled by Goh Haeri, a young actress whose entire life has been documented on the snow globe's live stream. Then tragedy hits. Haeri dies and a young girl from outside the globe who happens to look identical to her is secretly asked to take her place. Then the plot thickens deliciously.

I wanted to like this book, it had a great start with all of the components to make it a great dystopian YA read. But as the book went on the plot got really strange and there seemed to be a convenient explanation for every little happening. I saw another review that put it as almost as if it was being written on the fly, that's certainly how it felt.
The concept of the Snowglobe was really cool, but it seems that the book doesn’t care about it that much. I thought that the book would be about Jeon Chobahm in Snowglobe and letting it all go to her head.
But then the story devolves into Orphan Black. It feels very derivative of OB. The MC replacing their doppelgänger after they die by suicide. And then MC finds out that she’s actually one of many clones. Only thing missing now is the clones finding out that they have male variant clones too.
Jeon Chobahm even says “How many of us are there?” Just like Sarah said in Orphan Black.
The idea of there being a reality show in a frozen world felt very fresh to me, but then it was brought down by the stupid clone plot line.
