It was hard for me to keep the character names straight. Looking forward to it being a good movie someday! I didn’t really understand the end.

First off, the only things this book had in common with The Hunger Games and Squid Game is that this is a dystopian, and that there's a tv show involved. That's it.

This book began promising, and I really wanted to like it, but it became an unfocused mess the closer you got to the end.
The portal mirrors, the abuse the directors put the actors through and the life of people outside of Snowglobe and how unfair that is, are all afterthoughts  Because suddenly, there are clones, and that's the main focus? Not the way I thought this book was gonna go lol
There's no mention of an uprising or wanting to really change all that much about how people are currently living. Reading the synopsis for the second book, it seems unlikely those themes will play a huge roll there. I'm not sure if I want to continue this duology, unfortunately.

The description for this young-adult book mentions Squid Game and Hunger Games; I would also add that it's reminiscent of The Running Man (I'm thinking of the 1987 movie with Arnold Schwarzenegger, not the novel -- which takes place in 2025...).

I never really -- pardon the pun -- warmed up to this one. The power plants where humans generate energy was just too silly. And the temperatures -- they frequently are -50F or -70F. My willingness to suspend disbelief just wasn't, well, quite willing enough.

Can anyone explain the mirror portal things? Seemed tossed in there with no endgame... So when the end of the story came and they play no part, it was just this weird magic element ... This book was pitched as 'hunger games' esque, it is not ... It is dystopian and that's all it has in common...
