Obviously the book is somewhat outdated now (most obviously, we now know the ship broke in half), but one can see why it's considered a standard when discussing the Titanic disaster. Well-researched, and includes justifications at the end for some of its claims (such as its timeline).

So good! So sad, interesting, compelling, hopeful, human, real, and engaging.
An amazing and detailed account of the last few hours prior to the sinking of the Titanic. Having seen the movie and the fictional portrayal of the Titanic story, I didn't think I could possibly be interested in reading more about this horrible tragedy; I was wrong. This book details what happened on the few life boats that tried to bring people to safety, how the remaining passengers on board dealt with their inevitable demise, and how the nearby ships tried to deal with their neighbor's disaster. – Laura C.

This tells the story, in a straightforward way, the story of the sinking of the Titanic. There are brave and scared, heroic and human. I chose to read it because, well, for some reason it felt appropriate for January 2025
The take away: it took a very long time for the people on the boat to realize it was sinking. Everyone on the boat thought "It's unsinkable" and thus did nothing.
Read this metaphor as I intend to be read.

Ultimate lesson in critical literacy. Good read though.
Incredibly descriptive and a great read to know exactly what happens in the Titanic's last moments. The bit about Captain Edward Smith,(who was going to retire after steering the Titanic) last seen holding a baby while wading among the debris was distressing. The list of passengers who died and were saved was also very sad.
The Titanic sunk with 30,000 fresh eggs on board, and as soon as I get some diving equipment I'm gonna be rich.
