A very sweet novel, which introduces Mia Thermopolis. She finds out that, even though she's been living in New York with her mother and Fat Louie, her cat, that she's actually the princess of Genovia.
It's written in a diary-style (hence the title) and reads really easily. I'd reccommend this for girls ages 12 and up, because it really sends a good message. Mia doesn't get an easy life just because she is a princess, and not everybody agrees with it, but her real friends show in the end.

I have always loved the Princess Diaries movies since I had seen the movies the first time and didn’t realize until not long ago that there was a book series about it. But I enjoyed it, especially how the author had made it so it was like journal entries which were interesting. I can’t wait to see what the next book is like and this makes me want to go and watch the movies again. There were a few times I felt angry at the characters but I loved Mia, the book version, and the movie version as well. It was honestly a good book even if others have different opinions on it.

I just could not handle how Mia was obsessed with the size of her breast
It was too much

DNF'ed at pg 39
"But Mom's been depressed ever since her last boyfriend turned out to be a Republican."
I don't know what hole this crawled out of, but this is not my Princess Diaries, that is not my Mia Thermopolis, and that is NOT my queen! (No, I don't care that it came first). Mia was whiney, complaining all the time, annoying, and her only defining quality was that she was bad at math? That's it?! Disney vastly improved The Princess Diaries.
I ended up DNF-ing on page 39 after reading one too many jokes about sexual harassment and too many misogynistic themes.
