This book was a super fun read! As someone who grew up watching The Princess Diaries, this was DEFINITELY a crazy turn of events! The book and movie and COMPLETELY seperate but I love them both in their own right!💖

Honestly was laughing out loud at some lines! Not amazing but very entertaining and addictive. WAS EXPECTING HER TO GO TO A CASTLE THOUGH OR SOMETHING IN THIS BOOK!? Now to watch the movie (haven't seen it since it came out and don't remember it all)

Meg Cabot at her best. She's one of the best teen writers ever. Seriously. Anything you read of hers is gold. She takes cliche subjects ("I'm a PRINCESS?!?!?!") and makes them believable. Top 10 favorite books.

Love, love, love The Princess Diaries! Continuing on nostalgia lane, I decided to dive into this series again as well. I don’t believe I finished this series when I was in middle school, but I remember loving Mia. For those who only recognize the title only because it is a Disney movie, they are not the same. Both are great in their own unique ways, but the book is darker than the Disney version (go figure). The characters are snarky and hilarious, which I like because they are unique and not trying too hard. It is also a bit believable how Mia acts with finding out that she’s a princess. She shows growth in her interactions with the other characters as well, which I imagine through the series will lead her to become a great ruler. I will continue the series, but I’m going to put a pause on it for now because I have so many books to read!

Four stars as a YA book -- it HAS won two awards. I was curious when a smart, educated 20-something I met said this was her fav series from teen years. I saw the movie and was not impressed. This is a nice book though and hits on a lot of pre-teen and naive teen angst. Something I hope my daughter reads when she is about 13.
