I got this book from a random $1, mystery book bin. As a kid who grew up in the early 2000's, I've watched the two movies based off of this book a million times lol. So naturally I accepted this as a win and sat down to read it.

I'm assuming the target audience for this is high schoolers, but man this book was really smart. Lots of references and ideas that I personally didn't learn or know about until post high school. I imagine if I had read this in high school a lot of the off hand comments would've gone right over my head. But as an adult, many of them genuinely made me laugh.

This book was fun! Finished it in two days, has made me want to watch those movies again for old times sake, and was just a nice and easy palate cleanser. Did you know the author wrote 11 of these books?

The movie is definitely better but reading this book is still fun and nostalgic. Meg Cabot is not an adult who has forgotten what it’s like to be a teenager and she has such a great grasp on writing a teenage voice.
