I feel like we got Scooby Doo'ed.

Also, why is every single female character who gets more than one sentence written about her some form of: victim, murdered, raped, prostitute, disabled, "overassertive," alcoholic, or a mixture of the above?

decisamente non tra i libri più belli della casa, ci ha messo davvero troppo a diventare interessante e a cogliere la mia attenzione.

Another novel with Harry Hole as the main character and I’m starting to get the feeling that they don’t like him in his own country. Jokes aside, as unbelievable as it can seem to be sent to investigate a murder in another country for the second time, I’ve really liked it; in fact, I have liked this novel more than the one settled in Australia. The way the atmosphere of Thailand was described made for a very immersive experience that only highlighted the story.
This case was convoluted to say the least, I enjoyed all the investigative work they did and all the touchy subjects they covered, I’ve even enjoyed when the case got political because it gave the story more realism. And yet, I wish they have focused more on the main case since I couldn’t help feeling that the main murder took a secondary role without me noticing mid novel, which made me feel a bit lost. At some point things got confusing.
As characters go Harry showed more of himself and therefore had more dimension what’s always great (I especially liked his inner battle with alcoholism and grief), Liz was an interesting character that I wish have done more, and Noh was a really useful character (what I found surprising since I thought he was going to be just another face in the background) but unfortunately faded away by the end of the novel. I truly wasn’t feeling Runa and her whole "deep reflections" personality so I have to admit that her death didn’t affect me much and I could brush it off.
I can also admit that the resolution of the case took me by surprise. I was starting to like Jens and I had totally dismissed him as the culprit after someone tried to incriminate him so blatantly.
At the ending Harry pulled a Sherlock Holmes, which was incredible but also made me a little bit disappointed since after all the great police work he kept us in the dark and seemed to pull a rabbit out of his hat. That being said, I’ve really liked how everything made sense, as complicated as it was, and how all the little details fitted to create a great case.
I suppose I feel conflicted about this novel but the reading was enjoyable and I will definitely continue reading this series.

Es una novel·la negra amb molta intriga i emoció i amb un punt important que la diferència d'altres autors i és que vas de viatge per Tailàndia amb les seves costums, gastronomia...

opět parádní propletený příběh, dobře se to čte a Harry KleineHole je prostě klasika :D
