Meh.

Sped through, excited for the next few as I know they only get better.

Going to skip the son as it’s not part of the Harry Hole series and I did actually read it a few years ago, so onto The Redbreast next.

I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was good. I am really enjoying getting to know the main character and all of his massive flaws. Harry is a continuous train wreck and I want to know more about him. I also want to know more about his sister. We find out in this book she has Down Syndrome and she is not a main character but Harry's love is evident and I hope she is featured more. The actually story was so so, but learning more about Harry makes me want to continue the series.

Co říct na to, dávám tři hvězdy. Trochu mě tato kniha naštvala tím, co se tam stalo. Nebudu spoilerovat sama to nemám ráda. Svoje kouzlo to má. Mám ráda Harryho. Je to silná literární postava a taky se zdá trochu skutečný, jako by opravdu existoval. To mám u knížek ráda, že knižní postavy jsou jako skutečné. Ne moc přitažené za vlasy.

I would say this is more 3.5 ⭐️ I just couldn't quite give it a 4!

So much more like the Nesbo writing I love compared to the first book (The Bat) that felt miles away! The story/writing style still at times would lose my attention. However, still really enjoyed this and looking forward to reading the next book in the series!

The Goodreads app ate my original review when I tried to post, so I'll just say that this is a very fast-paced murder mystery, with a few gruesome spots that were a little tough to read. I enjoyed it overall, though I do find that I don't recall as much of Hole's backstory as Nesbo seems to assume the reader will. Ultimately those details don't really matter, though, you get enough to get the point.

1.5 - Nesbø sometimes repeats himself when it comes to elements of the plot. It feels like there are too many clichés among his characters, and even Harry was a little bit of a drag. The last scene in a karoke bar was amazing, the rest was rather long-winded.
