This was a good book about social anxiety, although a large portion of the book didn't resonate with me personally. There were a few good tips that I liked though.

Update: I listened to this on audiobook again recently, and I liked it more listening to it. Some of the main takeaways that I took from this were to 'aim for mediocrity' (not perfection) in social situations, shift your focus outward, and how you feel is not how you look. 3.5 stars, rounded to 4

The overly chatty tone and pop sci tropes can be wearisome, but very substantive and enlightening.

How to Be Yourself: Quiet Your Inner Critic and Rise Above Social Anxiety is a self-help book written by Ellen Hendriksen. The book explores the root causes of social anxiety and provides practical strategies for overcoming it. Hendriksen argues that social anxiety is caused by a combination of genetic predispositions, past experiences, and negative self-talk, and that it can be managed through cognitive and behavioral techniques.

The book emphasizes the importance of self-compassion and self-acceptance, and provides tips for quieting the inner critic that often fuels social anxiety. It also provides guidance on how to challenge negative thoughts and beliefs, and how to practice self-care and relaxation techniques to manage anxiety.

Found very useful as a person with social anxiety myself! The only thing I really wanted was more facts than story. If the stories were either short or not as many as included then I’d give it a 5.
