I really enjoyed this one. The culmination of events and how it ends up being the start of a long line of witches is great. The character is relatable and admirable. This book has it all.

I’ve had this book for years, and then it burned in our house fire and I really didn’t think about it until someone posted on Facebook that it was their favorite book. Why did I wait so long to read it?!? I enjoy reading about witches, especially since we know that most of the women that have been accused of witchcraft were actually just free thinking women who probably made some man look like an idiot or could read and write or maybe helped women during the birthing process/ natural healers. Women that were different, spoke there mind, or didn’t agree with the times...wore blue dresses instead of black, wore red boots...Witches!
This book was a beautiful, tragic, lovely, sad, joyful story about the relationship of a mother and daughter, a woman and true love, and Essex County Massachusetts during The Salem Witch Trials. If you haven’t read it, do so now! I’m ready to read the rest of the series now...especially since Practical Magic was one of my favorite movies in the 90’s.
