This book had a lot of potential but not the best follow through IMO.
Holly was in a bit of a crisis after divorcing her man child husband and losing her support system. Az was in a prolonged state of depression and isolation after losing his support system as well. Luckily, this didn’t turn into a completely codependent relationship, since Holly still had an effort to connect with others. As for Az, we don’t know if he’ll come to have meaningful relationships with anyone other than Holly.

Spice: 3.5/5

Triggers: child abandonment (off page), mental illness

This is Holly and Azgoran. She rents what she thinks is going to be a very posh cabin in the middle of nowhere, but she shows up to a ramshackle cabin with a grumpy, live-in groundskeeper. This is not going to be her year of solitude she imagined! It was very cute and a very neuro-spicy friendly.

In a world where demons are a given, and live among us, meet Az, a demon of a different sort.  He just wants to be left alone and does not have the ambition that his kind is known for.  A fun read, however, the last few chapters seemed to mostly be there to introduce new characters that will be in future books.  To me, that seemed to throw the passing off, but I still had a good time.

I received a free ARC of this novella for an honest review. This gave what cheesy Netflix/Hallmark holiday movies give. My FAVORITE thing this time of year is to watch the predictable but sweet plots.
I definitely laughed aloud several times during this quick read and enjoyed the very special element my favorite Christmas movies lack… sexy demon spicy seggs. Chefs kiss. No notes. Tis the season- be sure to set aside 2 or 3 hours to read this one during December to get in the holiday spirit…. Or mood. It’s delightful.

Holly (h), a recently divorced teacher seeking solitude, and Azgoran (H), a grumpy demon groundskeeper, are trapped in a remote mountain cabin on Mount Winter Bliss when an avalanche strands them together. Trapped together, Azgoran’s grumpy nature is initially at odds with Holly’s sunnier personality, and their banter and interactions reflect this. As they get to know one another, the pair share tender moments, and steamy encounters. Holly's journey from a people-pleaser to finding her own voice and Azgoran's gradual thawing from a reclusive demon to someone embracing connection adds a touching depth to their relationship. While not heavily Christmas-centric, its wintry setting and the heartfelt moments, exploring themes of self-discovery, setting boundaries, and healing from past wounds makes for an engaging holiday read.

This was an unexpected read this month as well after someone else talked about it. I’m really glad I picked it up though and will happily continue with the series, which I think has a different author for each novella. The story felt well developed for being so short and I loved how sweet the demon turned out to be. There was good detail for both the characters as well as the world building. The one thing that didn’t really work for me though, which is disappointing since I love this part so much usually, was the spice. The spicy scenes felt so rushed and without a good flow. I thought they were just getting started when she was already having an orgasm. What? I almost would’ve been happier with fade-to-black here and I’ve never said that before.
