I was so looking forward to this sequel to Matched but it lost a lot of the fun of the the first book. It felt at times like it was written just to move the plot along. The whole relationship between Ky and Cassia is frustrating and nothing really gets resolved. It was good in that we learn a lot more about the resistance movement. I'm looking forward to the 3rd book in the series and hope that I like it better!
This is a sequel to Matched, which has been touted as a young adult novel that rivals The Hunger Games (not even close).
Decent sci fi story, though not a whole lot happens until the end. Ok as far as a YA novel goes, but I was still disappointed.

Not as good as the first one, but not as bad as all of the reviews that I read about it. It's definitely the middle book in a three book series--it just carries the story, without any big things happening.
Big disappointment after Matched. The world development that I liked so much in the first book slows down greatly in this installment. For me, it felt like it could have been half as long (or even shorter) to get through the core story elements and new details on the world of the Society. I'm less excited to continue following the story than I was after reading Matched. It's further proof that not every great tale needs to be told in a trilogy. All that needs to happen in this volume is for Cassia and Ky to be reunited and to learn about the Rising. Why that couldn't have been condensed to a couple of chapters at the end of Matched or the start of Reached won't be apparent until the third book comes out. It better be chock-full of awesomeness ...

Arc from ALA. Not enough Xander. Ky is super annoying. Not quite as strong as Matched, but more action like Hunger Games. Looking forward to how it will conclude,
I am writing this review ten years later . I didnt like this 2nd installment of the Matched series. it was a filler book .
I found the sequel WAY more interesting than the first one. There was some great character development and there was generally more development of plot. Cassia escaped from the society to join Ky in the Outer Provinces. Along the way she met up with other characters and some secrets were divulged that could very well turn the tides on who she chooses to love. At the very end of the novel, Cassia and Ky make it to the rebellion where they are are separated from each other once again. Plot good, characters better, more action yes!
This may be closer to 2.5 stars. All I can think is "well, that was a let down." Seriously, I had high expectations for this book because I really liked Matched, but I just feel like nothing happened. So much time was spent with flowery/philosophical writing (and I don't even mean the poetry because I liked those parts) that very little action seemed to take place. I didn't even feel much for the relationship between Cassia and Ky, which is clearly a HUGE part of the series.
I still like the overall storyline and will read the third book, but I feel like this book did nothing but set the state for the next one.
