It was pretty good, but not amazing. This book changes point of view between Cassia and Ky so you get more of his story. I'm glad that I read it instead of listening because I could get through it quicker. Parts were fairly exciting and you learn more about the Society and the Rising, but there were a lot of inner monologues going on... I'll read the 3rd book, but I'm not exactly sure where it's headed.

Well that was a bit boring! Seems like nothing but a filler, I'm not enjoying this series at all. I'll finish it but only because I'm naturally nosy and want to see how it ends.

Another fast paced teen adventure/distopian read. I felt this moved faster than the first book (althought I forget what I read so fast I couldn't remember all the references to what happened in the first book.) anyway a great teen read for adults too.

I was ok. I liked that there was more of a survival aspect to this second novel, but I would have liked to get more into the Rising.

I liked Matched a lot, I felt like Crossed was a little lacking, but not bad enough to keep me from reading the third in the trilogy.

As soon as I finished reading the first book in the series I knew I had to continue on with the next book because I enjoyed the first book enough to want to continue reading but it wasn’t memorable enough for me to postpone the second book because if not I was going to forget everything that happened. After reading the second book I can confidently say that this is the perfect example of second book syndrome because absolutely nothing happens and the author is just preparing us for the third and final book.

In Crossed we follow the events right after the first book. We see Cassia now in the outer provinces trying to find Ky and join the rebellion.

Like I said, this book is second book syndrome, in terms of plot there isn’t a lot of, everything that happens is just in preparation for the final book, the pace is extremely slow and we get some very irrelevant descriptions and details about the world and the characters. However I have to give it to this book in terms of the incredible writing, the writing in Crossed and well as in the first one is very lyrical and beautiful.

In terms of the characters, we follow the same characters from the first book with the addition of a few more. I am starting to dislike Cassia more and more as time passes and I am growing very fond of Ky and Xander. (honestly she doesn’t deserve them). The secondary characters were a little more fun to get to know, Ellie and Vic are so heartwarming and sweet and strong.

What I liked the most about this book was the double narrative. It was refreshing to read from the perspective of someone other than Cassia and my favorite parts ended up being the ones narrated by Ky. I think it was a great decision by the author to add a second perspective to give the story more depth and to pack a bigger punchline.

Overall I was satisfied with my reading experience of Matched, it is not the best book I have ever read and even though I didn’t like it as much as the first one I am still intrigued enough to finish the whole series. I am very interested in seeing how the author is going to wrap the story up and I sense that some drama is coming my way.
