I do love some enemies to lovers, but it was hard to get into this book when the ghost of Dimitri was EVERYWHERE. Granted I did not read Dimitri’s book in the previous series, but I was having a hard time liking the man and he was a dead weight in the main MCs relationship. Shoot even the epilogue involved the man. I loved how they all able to be friends again, but I wanted more time with the MCs!

FINE IM HOOKED .. 🧎🏽‍♀️🧎🏽‍♀️🧎🏽‍♀️

I was hesitant going into this because since I skipped Dimitri’s, Dagon and Lucky’s book I didn’t really have a more in depth insight into Micah than the little cameos he had across the other books. And well Nox was a complete stranger to me.

HOWEVER, even though I have a one or three complaints, my love for this erases EVERYTHING.

I absolutely LOVED Micah, at first, with that glimpse of his one sided love I was a bit annoyed—but fuck did it hurt. Then as the book really went on, I kept wanting to bubble wrap Micah (which is crazy because he’s literally the most powerful arch there is) I loved how his struggles were portrayed but god, god did I love how his POWER was shown.

I think I said it in a review before that it annoyed me that we had these super powerful beings but that they were so powerless in truly protecting or defending their mates or themselves. That they were SOO powerful but for the plot we always had these loopholes and inconsistencies regarding their powers.

Micah however… he said nah, I’m the fucking leader of the seraphim and the most powerful arch there is FOR A REASON. Of course yeah we did get the usual “my powerful friends will help me” but there was not a moment his power was questioned. When he puts himself on top of Nox, and truly shows him that he’s no match I was GIGGLING like yeah big bad arch angel that loves his hunky less powerful demon taking care of him HELL YEA. He was the definition of controlled strength, and it was amazing. Not only physically or in power too, but emotionally.

SPOILERS HERE

He’s truly the only one in the series I see that had the strength to hurt (even if only temporary) his fated mate for the greater good of the plan.

Maaaan MICAH WAS EVERYTHING.

And Nox? I loved Nox, I think his confusion being topside was cool, he wasn’t an absolutely complex character but I thinks it’s hard to be when you have a powerful angel, Arch, leader of the most feared unit of Heaven as a mate. I mean, Micah’s baggage RAN DEEP and heaven being a torturous place did take the cake. However I didn’t feel Nox go, I loved how even with the odds against him he was silly dumb and fought for Micah, and I LOVEDDD his nicknames SUE ME.

Yes, we still get these repetitive maybe dull moments but I think they work amazingly here. Or maybe I’m biased, but I completely fell in love with them.

Is it really a surprise that I give a Lark Taylor book 5 stars at this point? Honestly, every book I read from her is amazing. This one was no different. I’ve been eager to get Micah and Nox’s story for a while now and it definitely did not disappoint.

I’m going to keep this short because I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s safe to say that Micah and Nox’s HEA is hard-earned. Their story is an emotional rollercoaster that had me anxious and/or in tears several times. Micah’s complicated past and heartbreaking present really shook me. I just wanted to wrap him in blankets and give him all the cuddles. Nox is actually perfect for him. He’s the fierce and loyal protector he deserves and I was so here for it. The enemies-to-lovers aspect was incredibly well done, as I knew it would be, and I loved watching their connection grow into something absolutely beautiful. Also shout-out to the other angels from Micah’s unit (can’t wait to get their stories!) and the cameos of our favorite demons and their mates.

So yes, another winner for Lark Taylor. If you’re a fan of her books, read this. If you’re a fan of excellent paranormal romance, read this! While this book can technically be read as a standalone, why would you do that and miss out on the wonderful stories that came before this? Just read them all.
