My 10-year old is a huge fan of this series, ranking it just below Eragon/Inheritance, and above Ranger’s Apprentice. I love genre fiction and enjoy YA sometimes, too—but I couldn’t get more than four chapters in. At first I find this difference mystifying, but really it’s great. He should totally love something I can not. At his age, I was rereading Oz, I think, and we both read Tolkien—this series is just something that is only his.

My friend made me read the cause it’s her favorite series, and I LOVED it sooooooo much like it’s actually the best book ever but I say that about a lot of books but this book holds it own next to the inheritance games and the book thief and Percy Jackson like this book is a literal masterpiece and I love it so much, I mean when else have I read a nearly 500 page book in two days, like I literally spent the entire day today reading I could not put this book down, this is your sign, if you’re even slightly thinking that you might enjoy this book, READ IT
