A man walks across the country to his new home in Arizona and soon becomes enmeshed with the family who moves into the glass house next door. Quietly compelling, Dinosaurs examines what it is to be human with Millet's beautiful and precise prose.

I’m not sure if I’ll write a full review of this, but I’ll just say now that I absolutely adored this spare yet endlessly rich novel. I tried to read it for as long as possible to cherish the experience. Millet has such a gentle touch, I felt so safe losing myself in the pages of this story.
P.S. I would be so shocked if Millet wasn’t at all inspired by Batman/Bruce Wayne when she wrote this. Gil is literally Bruce Wayne without the maniacal, intense focus on ridding the world of crime that the caped crusader has. Instead, Gil offers a radical alternative to the Batman archetype. He is sensitive, thoughtful, lonely, and fears hurting another soul more than anything else in the world. I fell in love with his character almost immediately.

4.5 - I bought this a couple of years ago on a whim solely based on the title. Now I'm working my way through all the books I own but haven't read, and I wish I had gotten to it sooner! A very simple story without your typical narrative structure, but sometimes there's beauty in the mundane.
