Not the books fault that I was comparing it to the movie...Not a fan of the ending, it wasn't really tied up neatly at the end, which I favour. However, I still enjoyed the bulk of the story and the characters involved

The novel begins with the protagonist of the novel, Stephanie, a widow with a child, who is also an active blogger. She blogs about her child, and her life but never uses any names for anonymity purposes. But one day, when her friend Emily, asks her to pick up her child from school, and doesn't show up afterwards, she begins to suspect something is wrong. With the help of Emily's husband, they both work together to unravel what happened.
Personally, I felt as though thriller fans will most definitely enjoy reading this novel. It was an amazing read! It hooked me from the beginning, until the end. I could not put the book down.
It was honestly so twisted, that I had goosebumps while reading. I'm a huge fan of thriller and mystery books, and so far, it is one of the best thriller novels I have ever read. The characters were great, the plot was amazing and this novel will deliver to you thriller fans out there.
This was Darcey Bell's first novel that she ever wrote, and as her debut novel, it most definitely hooked me and I can't wait to read her next novel.

A Simple Favor caught me off guard because it was not what I was expecting. I read it because I got it for free, and it was pretty good. The story overall was a bit odd and the whole storyline about
Stephanie having sex with her half-brother
was really weird, which threw me off.

This kept me entertained on the two plane rides it took me to get from DC to San Diego today, so while it's clear many others disliked this book, I'm not mad at it. It's essentially a less compelling and less well written Gone Girl (with characters who feel less fleshed out), but it kept me curious enough to want to keep reading to see what secrets would unfold next. It kept me entertained throughout the twists and turns (and turbulence), and that's all I can ask.

I was going to give it 3 stars for being mildly entertaining, but the ending was a huge let down.

Fun twists and turns. But, the use of He said, she said, they said.. made the story feel choppy. The writing style could have been a bit more creative. I think that this is going to be one of those rare cases where the movie is better than the book.
